Gin Blossoms’ 2010 album, “No Chocolate Cake”, is an effort four years after their strong come-back album, “Major Lodge Victory”. Though it does not hold as big a candle to their 2006 release, the lyrics to many Gin Blossoms songs have achieved in recalling the love and loss familiar in a more innocent past. This album is no exception.
Noted for the vivacity of its characters, the film adaption of Jonathan Ames’ novel, “The Extra Man”, explores the dysfunctional friendship of a dismissed English teacher and a former playwright. There’s cross-dressing involved, too.
“August Rush” is a pleasant story about the endurance of faith, the courage to pursue one’s dreams, and the universal power of music — on paper, that is. Unfortunately, there is much to be desired in terms of its translation into film.
The second concert of Saturday’s 2010 Grand Prix Concert catered to lovers of the glitter and glam persuasion. Adam Lambert’s set is filled with expert showmanship and beautiful manifestations of the important reminder that ultimately, humankind needs to motivated on nothing else but love.

On the last weekend of September, I went on a weekend-long trip to Singapore to attend two concerts that were to take place during the 2010 Singapore Grand Prix racing event. The first concert was by a band fronted by a man whose voice and preferred musical genre captivated me from his participation in the fifth season of American Idol. It is one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended.
