Story Design: The Secret Garden (1911)

Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 1911 novel, The Secret Garden is one of my favourite classic novels. Like the garden to the Craven family, the basic plot elements of The Secret Garden are so deeply embedded in its history that a reader can identify the book just by looking at what the design communicates.

Hong Kong Café, Central Park

There was a slight scent of Christmas in the air when I visited Central Park’s Hong Kong Café for a snack. The Penang-Bistro-derived concept is essentially three establishments in one, offering Japanese food, delicate pastries, and — as implied by their name — a touch of Hong Kong fare.

Nanny’s Pavillon Bathroom

Nanny’s Pavillon has made its way to Jakarta! The Bandung-born establishment opened two outlets in the capital city this year. Its shabby chic design, European-influenced image, and café menu warrant recognition.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010)

It is the beginning of the end. The adaptation of the final book of the “Harry Potter” series took off towards the end of 2010 by releasing the first installment of the two-part film. Darkly beautiful, but nonetheless sad, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” prepares fans of Harry Potter for the inevitable farewell.

Is My iTunes Library Too Masculine?
