While on his Indonesian tour, American singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik held a surprise gig in the flagship store of one Jakarta’s well-known bookshops. Word of the impromptu concert went out through the bookstore’s Twitter account about an hour beforehand, and it is the first concert I’ve attended spontaneously.
The second concert of Saturday’s 2010 Grand Prix Concert catered to lovers of the glitter and glam persuasion. Adam Lambert’s set is filled with expert showmanship and beautiful manifestations of the important reminder that ultimately, humankind needs to motivated on nothing else but love.

On the last weekend of September, I went on a weekend-long trip to Singapore to attend two concerts that were to take place during the 2010 Singapore Grand Prix racing event. The first concert was by a band fronted by a man whose voice and preferred musical genre captivated me from his participation in the fifth season of American Idol. It is one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended.

Last weekend, three of my college friends and I took a trip out of Jakarta to Bandung, a city known for its colder temperatures and slightly cheaper cost of living. We met one more college friend, feasted on the various culinary treats of the city, and enjoyed each others’ companies. I also used this trip as a chance to shake the dust off of my camera and visually document the excursion.
